I’m pretty sure I’ve tried every protein bar under the sun. Well, at least all of the one’s that my local healthy food store stocks.
Here are my favorites:
This is my number one go to protein bar. Think Thin Chunky Peanut Butter. It has to be chunky peanut butter. I’ve tried all the flavors, and this one by far reins supreme. It tastes really good (like really good, almost like a candy bar) without any of that protein bar after taste. (All you out there that eat protein bars know what I’m talking about). These bars are gluten free, sugar free, low on the glycemic index, kosher, and only 240 calories for a whopping 20 grams of protein. Their website states “Bite into chunky, roasted peanut butter goodness covered in luscious milk chocolate. This high protein, gluten free delight lets you indulge in your favorite flavors and still look and feel your best.” Yup, pretty much sums it up. You can buy them here. I like to eat them for breakfast with a full glass of water and that keeps me full until lunch time! At around $2.00 a piece the price isn’t all that bad either. I’ve seen them on sale at my local health food store for as little as $1.19. You better believe that I stocked up!
Next on my list is Pure Protein Bars. I’ve tried all of the flavors and they are all really good. These also have none of the protein bar aftertaste. I like the ones covered in chocolate a little better than the ones covered in white chocolate though. These bars also have a whopping 21 grams of protein for around 200 calories. (Some bars have a little more protein, or a little less calories depending on the flavor). My favorites are Chocolate Drizzle or Chocolate Peanut Butter (are we sensing a trend here?) The website states “With the Pure Protein Chocolate Deluxe high protein bar, you get all the flavor of chocolate without all of the guilt. It’s loaded with 21 grams of protein and packed with vitamins and minerals. This bar is a win-win for health conscious chocolate lovers alike!” This brand makes all sorts of different types of protein bars in various amounts of protein and calories, but I like the basic ones. They run around $2.39 a piece, but sometimes you can get a huge box of them at Costco for much cheaper than that. You can buy them here.
And last but definitely not least, the Perfect Foods Bar (and of course my favorite flavor is peanut butter, go figure). These puppies taste really good and are really good for you. But they have to be refrigerated are not always easy to find. Plus they are most expensive of the bunch at around $3.00 each. Although, I’ve notice if you buy them on their website they tend to be a little cheaper. But I justify by eating them for breakfast. You spend a least $3.00 on breakfast, right? Anyways, their website states “Peanut Butter. THE ORIGINAL. Introducing the recipe that started it all. Creamy peanut butter meets sweet organic honey, loaded with over 20 whole foods.”. These bars have 17 grams of protein and close to 300 calories. You can buy them here.
That’s it guys! My favorite protein bars.
