We active lifestyle types need healthy food on the go. Although, I attempt to cook all meals, there are days when that is not possible. The weekends are the worst for us mainly because it is unpredictable- which leads to eating out or snacking on the go. Then the discussion begins: “Where can we eat that I will accept less than healthy food on the go?” There is no such thing as healthy fast food. I can NOT stand the thought of drive through fast food- and yet, sometimes, I don’t have any other alternative. Well, now, I have NO excuses. The Probar is here and it has become a staple in my house. They are made from whole foods, 75% raw, Vegan and approximately 85% Organic. These whole food bars are designed to be a meal replacement- so the calories range from 350-400. They are very filling and if eating the whole bar in one sitting, you will not be hungry! I preferred to chop them up and eat small amounts throughout the day rather than eat a whole one in one sitting.
Bonus: NO HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP!! Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen, authors of You on a Diet, state that HFCS is not recognized by your brain as food, therefor, your body wants you to keep eating it!
My favorite was the Super Food Slam: Acai berries, raspberries, dark chocolate are all fantastic antioxidants that your body needs.
“Superfood Slam is a nutritional powerhouse. Our organic acai berries, pure raspberries, dark chocolate and live greens are blended together with PROBAR’s 15 signature whole food ingredients for a bar that is good for you and tastes SUPER.”
Additional tasty flavors included Cherry Pretzel (sweet and salty), Sesame Goji (made with Goji berries which has been recognized as a Super food), Kettle Corn (a bar designed just for the movie theater!) and Apple Cinnamon Crunch. These bars have been well researched to offer the best in health food ingredients you can get into a bar form. Since, I’m a coffee fanatic, I can’t wait to try the Koka-Moka! I also appreciate the fact that they list the Omega 3 and Omega 6 amounts by gram on each bar.
Where can you buy a ProBar? They are offered at Whole Foods, Henry’s Marketplace, REI, and possibly your local health food store. Click here to lookup a store. You can also purchase them online at the ProBar site or at Amazon.
