Ever heard of Colorscience? I hadn’t either until I read about it on Women’s Adventrue Magazine. Colorscience offers SPF 30 Sunscreen using a powder and a blush brush. The label claims “very water resistant”. From the website, “Colorscience Sunforgettable is the first SPF 30 in a mineral powder with broad spectrum (UVA and UVB) sun protection…”hipest applicators around!” It works like a mineral powder only has SPF 30 instead of 15.
To be honest, I found the packaging a bit confusing. Twice I opened the wrong end of the tube and dumped powder all over my countertop. The brush end has a retractable tube that you push down, then you apply the make-up. Once I got the hang of it, it was very quick and easy to apply. The color was great for my skin tone, however, I have a hard time believing that a powder can protect me from sun damage when I’m in it 3-4 hours a day. To me, that means that this is a great product to wear over your make-up and/or moisturizer as you go about your regular day. Probably would be great if you’re hitting the park and need sunscreen in a pinch. My parameters (phys ed teacher, runner, mom of 2) require a little more than “very water resistant”. I’ve been using a broad spectrum sunscreen/moisturizer in addition to the colorscience SPF 30 as it does offer some light “coverage” in terms of make-up.
Colorscience can be purchased in your local day spas. Check their website for a location near you.
